Case Study: Goonhilly Earth Station

TouchByte install ‘Facentry’, face recognition access control technology into Goonhilly Earth Station, Cornwall.

TouchByte are delighted to announce another partnership with another sector, aerospace. The TouchByte team worked alongside new partners, Goonhilly Earth Station, to test the technology in a high-security setting.

Goonhilly Earth station is the UK’s Space Communications Gateway, and a reconised centre of excellence in communications engineering, teleport services, R&D, manufacturing, training, outreach and education.

The site is home to a range of technologies; antennas making up a large proportion of the family, known locally as Arthur, Guinevere and Merlin, among others.

The install of TouchByte’s Facentry technology into Goonhilly has enabled contactless and secure access to the mission control room within the site.

Shaun Richardson, Goonhilly’s site manager, said: “It’s been great working with the Touchbyte team installing their facial recognition system into parts of the Goonhilly Site. The system is reliable, easy to use and has, being contactless, helped us further protect our staff during the COVID pandemic.”

TouchByte are excited to be implementing their innovative technologies into equally as innovative spaces.
